Amy Sillman, whose practice includes painting, drawing, iPhone video and fanzine, has contributed significantly to the renewal of current abstract painting, without completely renouncing moments and strokes close to figuration. Her working process has an analytical component, based on the idea that painting is a physical form of thinking and reflecting, which Sillman combines with elements of a dreamlike nature, personal references and a certain dose of humor. In this animated film with a poem in voiceover, the artist uses almost 2000 drawings that she created on standard everyday devices such as the iPhone and iPad. Adapted and titled from a poem written in 2009 by Canadian poet and essayist Lisa Robertson, the film is both seditious and seductive, abstract and explicit. Partial and theoretical, as it explores in concert with the text, the feminine modes of subjection and resistance.
