Summer at the MACA: Paris-Cuenca-New York-Madrid 2015

Submitted by brandcode_deweloper on

Summer has arrived! The Museum of Contemporary Art in Alicante is launching a new edition of Workshops.

"Summer at the MACA: PARIS-CUENCA-NEW YORK-MADRID" seeks to develop the imagination and artistic initiative of participants, as well as improve communication skills in different forms of expression. We will take a journey, the journey that Eusebio Sempere undertook until returning to Alicante and making the donation of his collection.

We will visit the main cities that developed 20th century art. Cities where he had the opportunity to live and meet artists who were pioneering a new vision in art. Paris meant his inclusion in the realm of artistic modernity, where he was able to contemplate the works of the artists he most admired such as Matisse, Modigliani, Klee, and others; he established contact with a group of young artists like Vasarely, Agam.

In Cuenca, thanks to his friendship with Fernando Zóbel, Sempere gets to know the city, a place where a "concentration" of painters was beginning to take place: Gustavo Torner, Gerardo Rueda, Millares, Guerrero…

New York brings new elements and greater theoretical and practical freedom to his painting; he had the opportunity to contemplate the great masters of modern painting, which are very well represented there in the museums.

In Madrid his work follows a luminous investigation using new materials and supports and his color range becomes more Spanish.

Each week we will visit a city discovering the avant-gardes in Paris, abstraction in Cuenca, Pop in New York and the Movida in Madrid.

Week 1: from June 29 to July 3: PARIS AND THE ROARING TWENTIES

Week 2: from July 6 to 10: CUENCA AND LYRICAL ABSTRACTION

Week 3: from July 13 to 17: NEW YORK AND POP

Week 4: from July 20 to 24: MADRID AND THE MOVIDA

Through a tour of the practical and aesthetic aspects of the authors and works exhibited at the MACA, participants will be able to learn about issues related to Contemporary Art through their own experimentation. Thus, throughout the summer school, we will carry out a series of activities designed to show the key issues of the techniques and principles that give rise to each artistic movement represented in the Museum.

Mediation

Submitted by brandcode_deweloper on

The museum's Mediation programming, aimed primarily at adult audiences, offers different proposals in various formats whose purpose is to facilitate deep and meaningful access to the contents of permanent collections and temporary exhibitions. From curiosity, reflection and exchange, we generate an active learning environment in which observation, dialogue and experimentation occupy a central place.

Mediation is conceived as a bridge between artworks and people, a space where shared interpretations are constructed and critical participation is fostered. Therefore, we offer participatory activities and experiences that adapt to different ages, interests and concerns, understanding that each perspective brings unique value. With this approach, MACA becomes an inclusive and vibrant space where visitors not only enjoy artistic creation, but also reflect on its relevance and impact on contemporary society.
