Replicant. Cía OgmiA

Submitted by brandcode_deweloper on
MACA live. SUN 2025

In charge of Ogmia Company "Replicant" Coordinated by: OtraDanza

A performance that transcends contemporary dance to reflect on the body in motion.

The world is governed by a tireless and incandescent will that turns us into machines of desire. We desire ceaselessly and, after the satisfaction of one longing, another emerges that demands to be fulfilled. This dynamic drags us relentlessly between two inevitable poles: suffering and boredom.

In this back-and-forth, the search for freedom presents itself as a challenge, since free will will always be conditioned by desire.

Replicant explores the intersection between dance, existentialism, and transhumanism. The work investigates the human condition, freedom, and self-determination, using the body in motion as a means of expression. It also seeks to offer a personal perspective on the spirit, life, and individual consciousness, as well as examine the moral conflict in the construction of being.

Are freedom and self-determination essential conditions for defining what is human?

I AM (T)HERE. Aurora Bauzà & Pere Jou

Submitted by brandcode_deweloper on
MACA Live

Creation and direction: Aurora Bauzà & Pere Jou Performance and musical composition: Aurora Bauzà & Pere Jou

External eye: Alessandro Sciarroni

Production: Ariadna Miquel and Management: Art Republic

Aurora Bauzà and Pere Jou are composers, creators and performers at the forefront of the performing arts. Their main research revolves around the human voice and its intricate connections with the body, movement, space, stage and light. Their compositions go beyond the traditional boundaries of artistic genres, treating music as a multidimensional entity with physical, scenic, visual, dramaturgical, expressive and poetic qualities. Their unique artistic approach involves a physical and movement practice that decomposes the resonant movement of sound (singing) from visual movement, creating a distinctive interaction. Choreography, viewed through an acoustic lens, merges fluidly with musical composition, shaping the essence and dramaturgical structure of their interdisciplinary work.

I AM (T)HERE is a scenic and musical work that explores the relationship between body and voice. Through the obstinate repetition of a vocal melody, and accompanied by an electronic atmosphere, the performer/singer moves in search of a body emancipated from the voice, breaking with the classical musical tradition in which the body is silenced and subordinated to vocal discourse. I AM (T)HERE seeks a physical and vocal language that proposes new forms of interaction between body and voice. An interdisciplinary, hybrid and transversal language that constructs its own semantics within the body/voice relationship and that does not hierarchize between disciplines of the living arts such as movement and sound. The piece embodies a body trapped between two different dynamics, voice and movement, that evolve in opposite directions, creating a body in tension, a subject in conflict with its own identity.

Now-here man. Andrés Corchero

Submitted by brandcode_deweloper on
MACA Live

Now-here man is a solo that is born from the desire to dance based on songs that, for some reason I cannot explain, evoke memories, awaken emotions or stimulate my brain and my body. Songs that make me laugh, cry, think, feel moved... Songs, many of them well-known and that, by themselves already transmit emotion. With now-here man I attempt, during the minutes that each song lasts, to unite and move those who listen to them while they observe my body existing in movement. It occurred to me after listening to the song Nowhere Man by The Beatles. This combination of "now and here" gives me the possibility to dance each day in a different place and also decide which song or songs I will use in each moment and place. This also allows me the flexibility of the duration of the performance.

Likewise, now-here man is a type of performance that I can construct in the place where I perform it, combining elements decided previously, with others that depend on the site chosen to carry out the performance. The performance space determines to a great extent the final composition, making the piece, in this specific case, a site specific.

Random Taranto. The Chachi

Submitted by brandcode_deweloper on
MACA Live

Two women eat sunflower seeds in a park, or at the door of a house, or in a courtyard. They share a common space, a conversation, the intimacy of silence. Taranto comes from the mining area of Almería. Originally it is a primitive, simple, dry chant, without guitar, that was born from the need to sing freely.

In this piece of scenic research there is a nakedness that accompanies us and with which we experiment. Respecting the structure of the traditional tablao, we investigate how the encounter between dance and chant can give way to the random to transform itself. Without seeking something concrete, irreverent gesturality appears, humor, chance. Dance and chant modify themselves without breaking completely and what happens we integrate, as in life, to keep dancing.

Precarious. Irene García

Submitted by brandcode_deweloper on
MACA Live

Precaria is a performance, a site specific, a danced monologue or a very talkative dance. It stems from a process of empirical research, reflection and collection of experiences around what it means to be an artist

in this country and how through humor the artist has managed to navigate precariousness, appropriate her difficulties and transform them

into creative material.

The work makes visible and brings to the forefront questions about the recognition of the arts, the impossibility of making a living from art and the difficulty in making ends meet.

In Praise of the Crack. Lorena Nogal

Submitted by brandcode_deweloper on
MACA Live

Winner of the Talía Award 2024 for best female performer.

A passage where to embrace mutations and the process of change. An intermediate place in search of a new version of oneself.

This piece is a manifesto about what is built from darkness, from doubt, in the crack that does not show but suggests.

A work that rests in the place of transit.

In search of the beauty that emerges from the acceptance of the imperfect, of asymmetry, of the irregular, and of the noise and traffic that is deposited in a loose, vulnerable and unstructured body.

The artist

Born in Barcelona in 1984. Lorena Noguera trained as a dancer at the Instituto del Teatro in Barcelona, where she graduated in 2005, and in the IT Dansa company, where she worked on the repertoire of internationally renowned choreographers such as Ohad Naharin, Jirí Kilyán, Stijn Celis and Nacho Duato among others.

For more than 10 years she has been an active part of the artistic team of La Veronal, working alongside Marcos Morau as an assistant in choreography and as a dancer, working both in the company's own choreographies and in external creations: The Royal Danish Ballet, Beijing Dance Theater, Göteborgsoperans danskompani, National Dance Company Wales, Compañía Nacional de Danza, Scapino Ballet, Carte Blanche, Norrdans, Skanes Dansteater ...

She has also worked with other renowned companies such as Gelabert-Azzopardi, Lanònima imperial and Plan B Dance Company. Furthermore, as a choreographer she has created her own works with which she has won awards in national choreographic competitions. Among the various recognitions she has received, she was awarded best female performer at the Catalonia Critics Awards 2016.

In 2018, together with several colleagues from her promotion at the Instituto del Teatro, she launched a project called HOTEL scenic collective. It is a new dance company that was born with the aim of building crossings that allow inhabiting the imagination and the world of other artists. To do this, they invite artists from different scenic disciplines to create and direct them. The company made its debut in June 2018 with two short pieces in the Hiroshima Room.

On white. Daniel Abreu

Submitted by brandcode_deweloper on
MACA Live

«This work that I present here is an intervention in space based on the ideas I work with for scenic works. A contained body, gestural and at the same time hollow, are the first steps that bring me closer to this proposal. To dance and create a landscape in balance with what I am and what the space gives. After all, it is about relating to the void, and seeing what it can offer».

Daniel Abreu

Dancer and choreographer, born on the island of Tenerife where his curiosity and interest in physical movement and scenic expression began. Furthermore, during his artistic training he earned a degree in Psychology, which has been very present in his choreographic works through careful poetic symbolism.

As a performer, he has developed his work in different dance and theater companies and collectives on the national scene such as Provisional Danza and Matarile Teatro, and as a creator, he boasts an extensive creative trajectory marked by more than sixty productions, which have been seen in more than 40 countries, where they have been recognized by critics, audiences and various awards, placing it as one of the most outstanding groups in the current dance scene for years.

His company project emerged almost imperceptibly in 2004, with the volume of creations and collaborations giving rise to the concept of what we now know as Cía. Daniel Abreu.

As a result of all this creative work, Daniel Abreu has been invited to teach different workshops and courses, in which he shares his creative vision and tools for physical and expressive technique.

In 2018 he was appointed artistic director of Lava Compañía de Danza, resident at the Auditorio de Tenerife, for whom he created the award-winning work Abisal.

In parallel, he continues close to other creative realities, such as directing projects for other groups and creators like Fattoria Vittadini, Zagreb Dance Company, Compañía Nómadas, 10 & 10 Danza, Proyecto Titoyaya and Teatre Tanca Zawirowania, among others.

In 2011 he became part of the prestigious group of artists that make up the European program Modul Dance.

Among the recognition garnered throughout his career, the following stand out: the National Dance Award 2014 in the creation category, awarded by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport; the Best Direction Award at the INDIFESTIVAL in Santander 2010; the Jury Prize for Choreography at the XVIII Madrid Choreographic Competition (2005); the AISGE Foundation Award for an outstanding dancer, to attend the American Dance Festival (2005) received at the XVIII Madrid Choreographic Competition (2005) and the mention as Most Outstanding Dancer of the IV Maspalomas Choreographic Competition (1999).

Sempere

Submitted by brandcode_deweloper on
IVC Award for Valencian Performing Arts for Best Dance Show 2024

Movement, light, vibration and dynamism are key points in the work of Eusebi Sempere, a leading figure in shaping the artistic modernity of the country in the second half of the twentieth century. As a proposal from the Museum of Contemporary Art of Alicante to commemorate the centenary of his birth, Asun Noales meticulously and delicately explores the three-dimensionality of bodies in space, the use of light and the search for kinetic and optically seductive work for scenic arts. Volume, plasticity, repetition, rhythm, musicality and poetry have a place in this abstract and danced journey that traverses Sempere's work like a score of movement, using it as a starting point for the composition of the scenes.

Synapsis, Inclusive Dance and Performing Arts

Submitted by brandcode_deweloper on

The Synapsis project, Inclusive Dance and Performing Arts, is an initiative of the Ruedapies Inclusive Dance Association, directed by Marisa Brugarolas together with Alicia Esteve and Luis Martínez, and promoted by the Culture Department of Alicante, Las Cigarreras and MACA with the support of the Art for Change program of the "la Caixa" Foundation.

Synapsis is an artistic-educational, inclusive and participatory project aimed at people with and without functional diversity over 18 years old to create a space for dialogue between contemporary culture and the personal and group experiences of the participants.

Through workshops in expressive movement, dance and interdisciplinary performative action, participants will approach active knowledge of their expressive capacities, using participatory strategies in which they will become active agents of their own knowledge. The personal and group transformation sought will come from placing their personalized movement and artistic expression in real and imaginary spaces that dialogue with their perception of the world, with art, with their inner and outer space, and with the group itself. With all the material generated, a unique performative work will be created arising from the appropriation of the work of art and appreciation of their experience and expression through the body and movement. This group dialogue will be generated through an interdisciplinary language in which contemporary dance as expressive movement, gesture, visual arts and music will intervene.

In this participatory, interdisciplinary and inclusive creative activity, people with functional diversity will be creative agents, and not mere reproducers of a given culture, thus promoting a social, empowering and lasting transformation over time.

The workshops, exhibitions and closing event will take place at the Las Cigarreras Cultural Center and at MACA from February 14 to June 10.

The professionals

A team of professionals in these areas will be in charge of guiding the workshops and interdisciplinary exhibitions open to the public, in which people with and without diversity will participate: Marisa Brugarolas, artistic director and teacher of the Synapsis project, is a choreographer, teacher and researcher of interdisciplinary and pedagogical inclusive processes. Director of Ruedapies Inclusive Dance since 2005, where she has directed extensive choreographic creation associated with artistic and training projects. She holds a doctorate in arts and extraordinary award from the Polytechnic University of Valencia, with the thesis The Plural Body. Integrated Dance in Inclusion. A Renewal of Perspective. Master's degree in Interdisciplinary Arts, San Francisco State University, awarded a Fulbright Foundation scholarship. Graduate in Integrated Arts and specialist in Somatic Movement at Moving On Center, Oakland, California. Graduate in Dramatic Art from the Superior School of Dramatic Art of Murcia.

Her work combines pedagogical research and scenic creation, participating in festivals and spaces for contemporary art and performance in Spain, the United States, Italy, the Netherlands, Costa Rica and El Salvador. Director of the inclusive dance project Corpo in Divenire, at the Royal Academy of Spain in Rome. She has collaborated in the implementation of the inclusive curriculum of the Dance Master's program at the National University of Costa Rica and at the Superior Conservatory of Dance in Alicante. Speaker at multiple congresses and seminars such as the IX Conferences on Social Inclusion and Education in the Performing Arts INAEM. In 2019 she receives the award from the II International Congress of Art and Diversity in recognition of her trajectory and work in the Arts and diversity.

Currently she combines her artistic work at Ruedapies with teaching as a specialist in Dance and functional diversity in the Dance Pedagogy degree at the Superior Conservatory of Dance in Alicante, while also being a research member of the RediArt XXI group at Carlos III University of Madrid.

Alicia Esteve, teacher of the Synapsis project, graduate in Fine Arts from the Polytechnic University of Valencia and awarded Erasmus and Leonardo scholarships in Venice, Italy, where she had the opportunity to perfect her artistic studies in Anatomy. She participates in numerous individual and collective painting exhibitions in various Spanish and foreign cities, such as Venice, New York or Miami, obtaining various awards and recognitions. In 2021 she completed her studies in Contemporary Dance Pedagogy at the Superior Conservatory of Dance in Alicante. For some years she has directed her professional steps towards the teaching and practice of Yoga, completing a teaching degree at the international ETY Viniyoga school. Her growing interest in anatomy, introspection and artistic expression has led her to the world of Contemporary Dance and currently she combines the teaching of Painting with that of Yoga and Contemporary Dance in various centers.

Luis Martínez, teacher of the Synapsis project, trained as a Classical Ballet dancer at the Professional Conservatory of Dance in Novelda and later completed his Higher Studies in Contemporary Dance Pedagogy at the Superior Conservatory of Dance in Alicante, expanding his academic knowledge with an Erasmus scholarship at the Superior School of Dance in Lisbon. In parallel, he trained in Theater with the Carasses Company, of which he has been a permanent member since 2008. For his work in the company he has been awarded as best lead and supporting actor in different competitions at the national level. His artistic concerns lead him to become involved in the research of the performing arts, with the intention of contributing new territories in the field of dance, venturing into paths such as pedagogical research, inclusion through art or diversity and therefore of artistic disciplines in general, taking into account the ambiguity and multidisciplinarity of the creative processes in which our society is immersed today.
