Guided tour around the temporary exhibition.
Guided vermouth tour by Explicarte.
Traditionally, women have been considered second-class citizens in the world of culture. This position was based on a statistic supported by a very limited number of women who had stood out in the field of literature, thought, and the plastic arts. This idea crumbles in the face of a simple consideration: the reduced opportunities they had to develop their personal talents.
On this occasion, we will focus on the figure of Juana Francés, the protagonist of our temporary exhibition.
Through the Tangent call of the Consortium of Museums of the Valencian Community.
We propose a new way of relating to the museum with the aim of consolidating and promoting mutual enrichment and an exchange of experiences.
With these guided visits and actions we want to reflect on concepts and ideas that will emerge throughout the visit, relating the works from the MACA collections to their context, in a transversal way, making an analysis of current reality and how artists represent their experiences creating a collective memory through the great diversity of contemporary languages that have emerged in the 20th and 21st centuries.
For restless adults.
With the support of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Universities and Employment of the Valencian Regional Government.

The Museum participates once again, as host in the celebration of Slow Art Day. We invite you to come on Saturday at 6 p.m., guided by our mediator, you will observe individually five selected works, and then share your impressions in a group discussion about the viewing experience.
All of this will happen simultaneously in hundreds of museums around the world.
The selected works are:
Kiki de Montparnasse by Pablo Gargallo
Jefe Contable and Riu-Rau by COLEC-002
Rebasando el límite by Juan Genovés
Descubrimientos Militares 1671. Diario de una excavación imaginaria y barroca by Manuel Millares.
On this occasion, and on the occasion of the opening of the exhibition, we will focus on the figure of Juana Francés. She is the most prominent of a group of women artists who began to exhibit in the 1950s of the last century and whose professional determination defied the society of her time. Facing a hostile, normative and rigid environment created by the political and social ideology of Francoism, she managed to remain attentive to plastic concerns and be part of a generation of artists who revolutionized the art of their time, driven by a coercive political, social and cultural situation.

On the occasion of the closing of the exhibition "Kara Walker. Burning Village", we have scheduled a series of activities around her work.
One of them is our monthly session of "Great Artists Straight Up" which, as it could not be otherwise, this Saturday will be dedicated to her figure.
On this occasion, we will focus on the figure of Tarsila do Amaral. A central figure of Brazilian modernism, she is the creator of an original and evocative work, based both on indigenous and popular imagery and on the modernizing dynamics of a country undergoing full transformation.
Her work is found in museums around the world, in the permanent collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Smithsonian American Art Museum, the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, the National Portrait Gallery, the Museum of Fine Arts Boston, the National Palace of Haiti, and the National Museum of African American Artists.
