Here are shown drawings, prints, sculptures, artist books and one of her most recent videos, a total of 31 works donated to MACA in 2021 and 13 pieces deposited in 2024 for this exhibition that have traveled from New York
For adult audiences. Free admission until capacity is reached.
The group will hold a special session under the name "Words Without Barriers".
The Palabras Mayores group, a mediation project between the museum and people over 60 years old, presents this inclusive and creative proposal that combines the poetic, visual, and plastic arts. The session will begin with an open discussion table on museum accessibility for all kinds of groups, opening a dialogue that invites rethinking cultural spaces as truly inclusive environments. Subsequently, a creative workshop will be developed in which, inspired by the MACA collections, participants will write texts, take photographs, make videos or create plastic artworks that represent their visions and experiences about museums and accessibility.
"Domesticating the house and the street" is the leitmotif that is repeated in the work of the young architecture studio Cierto Estudio, whose projects range from the design of domestic spaces to their recent experience of urban renewal of Consell de Cent street, in the heart of Barcelona's Eixample.
In their presentation, they will try to explain to us how this melody or fundamental idea of 'domesticating' works both in the house and in the street, since after all both are spaces where people coexist. And, therefore, so are work spaces, leisure spaces, accommodation spaces, learning spaces, sports spaces, or exhibition spaces, such as this museum. But what does it mean to domesticate space? How is it possible to design the domestic?

The Museum, represented by Ester Guixot, responsible for guided tours on weekends, and its librarian, Aranzazu García, attended the headquarters of the Surco Association to conduct workshops divided into two days
Through the materials, the Surco youth were able to put into practice what they learned in a Chinese ink workshop and another in stamping.
Learning while having fun was the objective we set for ourselves with these workshops, in which what is truly positive is the relationship established with groups and associations in the city.
From MACA we want to thank the managers and members of Surco for their interest and collaboration, which will continue over time, as we consider it positive for both the youth and the Museum.
Below we leave you a sample of what we did in the workshop.
Weaving Stories is a unique journey through the MACA, its history and its permanent collections with the idea of sharing knowledge and emotions, exchanging experiences, bringing contemporary art closer...; to reflect on it through artistic activities that provide tools to generate meaningful experiences that stimulate dialogue, reflection, imagination and critical thinking making use of all the senses; to reflect on it through artistic activities that provide tools to generate meaningful experiences that stimulate dialogue, reflection, imagination and critical thinking making use of all the senses.
THIS [NO] IS A BOOK, a new activity for the Museum of Contemporary Art in Alicante (MACA), on the occasion of the temporary exhibition TEXT [NO TEXT] Books and Artist Publications. Universitat Politècnica de València Collection. It is a project through which anyone who wants to participate (yes, YOU TOO!) will be able to create an Artist's Book based on a series of literary, visual, photographic and visual activities that we will publish in a dossier and that will serve as a guide and content for this artistic creation.
This is an activity that is not exclusive to any group, we insist. Our intention is for it to be global, inclusive and intergenerational, that it can be done at home, individually or as a family, in educational or social centers, by different groups of any kind and, of course, by artists. Although, as we usually say, we are all creators, we are all artists!
In light of the circumstances we are experiencing and that everyone already knows about, the project will initially be carried out outside the museum, but we will monitor all the creations you send us, to publish them on our networks, and to be able to show the results of an activity that, we guarantee you, will be creative and also a lot of fun.
In this link you will find the complete guide of activities so you can start creating your [NO] book.
MACA for SABIEX. The Miguel Hernández University of Elche has been developing SABIEX for years, a comprehensive program for people over 55 years old promoting active aging. For this program, MACA organized several seminars in 2018. Under the title Sempere. Unraveling Stories is a unique tour through the MACA, its history and its permanent collections with the idea of sharing knowledge and emotions, exchanging experiences, bringing contemporary art closer...; to reflect on it through artistic activities that provide tools to generate meaningful experiences that stimulate dialogue, reflection, imagination and critical thinking making use of all the senses.
An educational project proposed in three sessions at the centers, conducted by an educator and three artistic-creative workshops. Sessions focused on reflecting on the surrounding reality, art and the Museum. Starting from observation exercises and creative processes, works and documents are generated that will undoubtedly lead participants to broaden their critical vision regarding their world and art
Four groups of 20 students from the Els Reiets juvenile rehabilitation center in Alicante and the Secondary Education Section of IES Figueras Pacheco participated in this experience. Young people aged between 14 and 21 years old.
On this occasion, it is the Museum that travels to the center in order to bring works of art to those who cannot enjoy them in person. Contemporary images connect in an exemplary way with the world of young people and adolescents, being capable of forming their own iconography that establishes connections between their personal situation and artistic creation. Easier to verbalize than with words.
This project arises from a Session / Zero that took place within the 3x3 program at the Els Reiets juvenile rehabilitation center in Alicante (Secondary Education Section of IES Figueras Pacheco).
Art education project that arises from the need to bring art and the museum to schools in a way adapted to the specific needs of the participants.
The main objective of this project is to bring the human face in art closer to students through activities that contribute to the general cognitive development of students, focusing especially on the sensory aspect so that students can develop personal balance in relation to feelings and emotions. Furthermore, it seeks to teach them that the world is full of different people, each with a unique face, which makes each person special.
In [R] PORTRAIT], we will explore the history of portraits in art from its beginnings to the present day, through the observation and exploration of different works from the MACA's permanent collections.
This second edition of [R] PORTRAIT» is being developed in the Hospital Pedagogy Unit of the Hospital classroom at the General Hospital of Alicante. During 7 sessions we will carry out different activities based on 20th and 21st century art, specifically in the portrait genre, since the MACA's works will allow us to promote the development of students' creative thinking through very simple, fun and enriching activities.

The first edition of "(R) PORTRAIT" was developed in the Special Education Units of CEIP Azorín and IES Gaia in San Vicente del Raspeig, Alicante). During 9 sessions, various activities were carried out that addressed different aspects of art, such as approaching the works, researching portraits and the characters that star in them, and the artistic expression of the students.
And as a final touch, we say goodbye in the best way we understand to disseminate and make visible: an exhibition!.
