The Soldier Musicians belongs to the same series of five lithographs that Ediciones Polígrafa of Barcelona published in 1972 with work by Rafael Canogar, of which two out-of-commerce copies are preserved in the collection. The titles of the set clearly define its character: The Demonstration, The Game of War, The Soldier Musicians, The Embrace and Study for a Monument form a cycle of social and political content created during the height of dictatorship. The edition consists of 75 numbered copies and a variant in different colors numbered from I to XXV.

The composition shows three figures in military uniform, helmet, and gas mask, grouped in the foreground against a neutral gray background. One of them holds what appears to be a guitar. The irony of the title is immediate: soldiers equipped for war who play music. The tonal range is reduced to reddish ochre on the gray of the paper, with white areas where the figures lose consistency and become transparent, as if they were ghosts or projections. The combination of lithography and photolithography gives the image a granulated texture that reinforces its documentary character and its critical distance.
