The main media in which Canadian artist Erin Shirreff works are photography, sculpture, and video. Her research focuses on formal and spatial aspects that challenge the representation of three-dimensional objects through photography and video, in order to explore the capabilities of these two media to produce a sculptural experience, and to seek new possibilities for abstraction. Two works by Shirreff are held in the collection, "A.P. no2" and the diptych "Figure 2 (II)". In this "A.P. no2" which is part of her A.P. Series, the artist merges half of two photographs of sculptures created by her, drawing inspiration from the work of artists such as Anthony Caro, Tony Smith, and Alexander Calder. The prints are folded where the two images meet, suggesting the double page of a book.
