Weaving Stories is a unique journey through the MACA, its history and its permanent collections with the idea of sharing knowledge and emotions, exchanging experiences, bringing contemporary art closer...; to reflect on it through artistic activities that provide tools to generate meaningful experiences that stimulate dialogue, reflection, imagination and critical thinking making use of all the senses; to reflect on it through artistic activities that provide tools to generate meaningful experiences that stimulate dialogue, reflection, imagination and critical thinking making use of all the senses.
In this tour, we question traditional gender roles
in contemporary art with the aim of fostering critical and reflective thinking, generating a dialogue around new codes of communication and representation. We seek to broaden visitors' perspectives to promote a critical view and provide a clearer and more accurate vision of reality.
The tour focuses on addressing the value of diversity, detecting
prejudices, exploring identity and understanding what organizes our
society from multiple perspectives. Through the exploration of contemporary artworks that challenge gender norms, we want to invite visitors to rethink gender categories and to participate in a broader conversation about inclusion and equality in art and in society.

The objective of this tour is to get to know the artists and works that participate in geometric abstraction, optical
and kinetic trends. Through the MACA collections, we will approach the first artists who participated in the Le Mouvement exhibition in Paris up to the Spanish abstract artists of the second half of the 20th century and early 21st century. Always considering Eusebio Sempere as the maximum representative of this trend in Spain.

Through this artist from Alicante, we will delve into the world of abstraction with compositions that dispense with all figurative reference and propose a reality different from the natural one. Furthermore, Juana introduces us to the artists of her time who, like her, incorporate all kinds of objects and materials foreign to the work of art and propose gesturality as a way to transmit emotions.
Material Experiments. (Workshop for primary school)
It is about experimenting with some of the materials that these artists used, using gesture as a new way to express and create their own composition.
Plastic Experiments. (Workshop for secondary school)
Based on the work of Millares, Juana Francés and Zóbel, we try to explore the different materials and textures with which a work can be created and thus experiment with different techniques and create volumes.

In the 20th century, the artistic paradigm changes and other possibilities of expression become known. The world changes drastically due to political conflicts, technological advances, and artistic ruptures.
Guided tour designed to learn about those artistic styles that emerged during the 20th century and that revealed the desire to break with the past. Historical events were decisive in the trajectory of artistic avant-gardes.
With this tour aimed at primary school students, we propose a new perspective on reality based on forms and free relationships between them.
The artists we work with are Joan Miró, Alberto Sánchez, Pablo Gargallo, Julio González, Juan Gris.
Building Expressions. (Workshop)
It is about fostering imagination by experimenting with different forms of expression and composing a figure based on their own codes of interpretation.
The objective of the tour, but aimed at secondary and high school students, is to reflect on concepts and ideas related to the historical period and to learn about some of the most important artistic avant-gardes: Expressionism, Cubism, Surrealism, Abstraction, Pop Art, and Social Realism.
Exquisite Corpse*. (Workshop)
This activity aims to reinforce knowledge related to the realities depicted in works from different collections through the exquisite corpse* technique.
*A word game invented by surrealist artists through which many more ways of drawing ideas or images from an image are created.

Sempere is our most representative artist. His concerns and artistic pursuits around light, movement, and geometry bring him close to these artists he meets in Paris: Vasarely, Le Parc, Agam, Tomasello... Students will be able to interact with some of the works and achieve different optical effects.
With this tour we aim to showcase the works and artists who experiment with movement, light, and the reflections produced by geometric forms that involve the viewer in an innovative way.
Vasarely's Cube. (Workshop)
Victor Vasarely is the leading representative of Op Art/Optical Art, an artistic movement that emerged in the 1960s and stems from geometric abstraction. Using scientific principles and repetitive structures to create visual effects that produce a sensation of movement on a flat or static surface, turning the viewer into an active observer and therefore a participant in the work.
The objective of this workshop is to work with polychromatic or bichromatic contrasts, inspired by Vasarely's work, using simple geometric forms such as squares and circles, and the creation of patterns through changes in shape, size, or color.

In 2015 the MACA will present this exhibition that will take place from February 5 to May 17, 2015.
Miró's passion for the stage is a subject that has been highlighted in exhibitions and studies but is not as well known by the general public. The stage and theater attracted him strongly, not only because he was fascinated by the theme of representation but because for him it was the great theater of the world where everything came to life.
This interest in theater leads him to launch a proposal to the Teatre La Claca group to collaborate in the design of costumes, characters and in the staging of the theatrical work, Mori el Merma.
A part of the characters from this theatrical production gains great relevance for the MACA since it was Eusebio Sempere who mediated so that they could arrive in Alicante and be exhibited at La Asegurada in 1980.
This exhibition will also include an educational project to discover a passionate and somewhat rebellious Joan Miró. Workshop visits in which we bring schoolchildren closer to an imaginary and surrealist world, just as Miró did in his eagerness to experiment with surrealism, to discover, in a fun and dynamic way, the modernity and artistic avant-gardes of the twentieth century.

The representation of reality is related to numerous artistic and aesthetic trends. We see it in the representation of everyday life, or in pop art, which uses popular images, or in works of social and political commitment that represent the surrounding reality. The activity that has been prepared for this itinerary aims to strengthen knowledge related to the realities depicted in works from different collections to represent a new vision of these through the technique of exquisite corpse*.
