A trip to....the other side

Submitted by brandcode_deweloper on

It is a family experience in which both adults and children will enjoy an experience that you don't expect to find in a museum: it is a journey that some will have almost forgotten and others have yet to experience.

We will visit the museum, but we will also encounter our inner child or the person we would like to become. We will do this through a workshop for some and a visit for others, in which everyone will have to make a decision. But be careful, not many people dare to peek into The Other Side. You need to have at least a minimum of adventurous spirit!

Come and discover contemporary art in a way that perhaps no one has ever told you about before. The only thing we want to guarantee you is that both adults and children will enjoy, remember, dream, share and, as we always like to say, be moved.

Idea and realization: Ester García Guixot, Extrarradio.

Giorgia Lupi and Stefanie Povasec. The Beauty of Data

Submitted by brandcode_deweloper on
I, artist. December 2022

For an entire year and once a week, Giorgia Lupi and Stefanie Posavec sent each other postcards reflecting data from their personal lives. Things like: "what music you like, how much time you spend alone and accompanied or what sounds surround you", became beautiful drawings made from their personal data.

All these postcards are collected in the book "Dear data" where we also find the guidelines and ideas that the two artists discovered during the experiment. In this "I, Artist" workshop we will learn about this project by Giorgia Lupi and Stefanie Posavec, through the "visual diary" format, experiencing artistic expression through personal data.

I, artist October 2022

We resume the YO, ARTISTA activity with this session around Bruno Munari's exhibition, a total and multifaceted artist. During the workshop we will put into practice the creative games that Munari collected in his book titled "Fantasy", to find out where ideas come from, how creativity works and how we can train our imagination.

Ruth Asawa. A Life Woven

Submitted by brandcode_deweloper on
I, artist. September 2022

In the workshop we will explore Asawa's sculptures, the wire weaving technique, drawing in the air, expanded drawing and the observation of nature as a source of inspiration.

Ruth Asawa (1926 -2013) was an American sculptor of Japanese origin and a devoted activist who tirelessly advocated for art education. Recognized worldwide for her biomorphic hanging sculptures, woven with steel cable, Asawa found in this artisanal technique what she was looking for: expanded drawing produced with three-dimensional materials. Another part of her sculptural work is inspired by the tradition of Japanese origami and paper work, and she also has works of a more linear character, more inspired by her drawings and with tree-like forms.

Kveta Pacovska. Pocket Museums

Submitted by brandcode_deweloper on
I, artist. June 2022

Květa Pacovská (Prague, July 28, 1928) is a Czech painter, sculptor, and illustrator. She studied and graduated in Applied Arts. She was a professor in Berlin, and as she herself has said, she began her career in illustration by trying to share an activity with her children, in an attempt to share something creative.

Although she is distinguished as an illustrator, after the 1990s Květa has also developed a career in sculpture and painting with numerous exhibitions in Germany, France, the Netherlands, Belgium, and Japan, with shows at the Pompidou Center in Paris and at the Museum of Applied Arts in Frankfurt, among others. Both in her pictorial work and in her children's illustrations, one can see the influences of constructivism and the play and color that evoke Paul Klee and Vasily Kandinsky. Hers is a very sensitive constructivism, and in her designs the influence of the Bauhaus School is evident. Coordination: Va de cuentos and María Maraña

Yves Klein. Paint Everything Blue

Submitted by brandcode_deweloper on
I, artist. May 2022

Yves Klein always thought about how to surprise his audience, and one day he hit the mark, he would paint everything in a special, unique blue. The rest is history. Here, as in his previous books, Fausto Gilberti tells us his vital and artistic journey with humor and intelligence.

On March 9, 1960, Yves Klein performed his performance, Anthropometries of the Blue Period at the Galerie Internationale d'Art Contemporain in Paris. The work consisted of the creation of two large-format anthropomorphic paintings conducted by Klein. His production consisted of the application of paint made with the IKB pigment, a dark navy blue manufactured and patented by the artist, on the torso and thighs of the bodies of naked women, who once covered in paint, pressed their bodies against large sheets of white paper. The result was a monochromatic and abstract impression of those female bodies in real scale.

Eyes to Fly. The Symbol in Graciela Iturbe's Photograph

Submitted by brandcode_deweloper on
I, artist April 2022

Graciela Iturbide is an icon of Mexican culture. A photographer who builds images full of realism, far removed from magic or surrealism, two terms with which her photos have sometimes been defined, although she distances herself from both concepts. Her images, beyond documenting Mexican life, provide a background composed of different stories, a mixture of the indigenous and the postcolonial that she herself defines as the "Mexican tempo".

In this workshop we will explore the creation of images with the bird as the protagonist, using the photo-collage technique.

The Goose of Diverse Beings

Submitted by brandcode_deweloper on
Inspired by the traditional game of the Goose

Just about everyone has found themselves in front of a Snakes and Ladders board at some point. And yes, it's that traditional game, very simple and fun, that two or more players can enjoy. It may not be necessary to explain, but we'll tell you what it's about: each player must advance their piece across a board made up of 63 squares that form a spiral. Each square has a meaning and some are more special than others. For example, there are squares where you must move backward, others where you lose a turn, and others where you advance squares. The player who manages to get their piece to the last square first wins, known as "the goose garden."

Currently, this game is in practically every home and is considered a classic. But, if we're characterized by something, it's because we love to 'transform' things to make the world a little bit better.

That's why, from Daguten. Escuela Gráfica de Barrio, in collaboration with the MACA (Museum of Contemporary Art of Alicante), we had an idea. And we wanted to call that idea: The Game of "The Goose of Diverse Beings." Written like that, it might sound too complicated. But it absolutely isn't. On the contrary, it actually makes much more sense than one might think at first. Because, isn't our society diverse?

So we set out to create an alternative version of this board game classic. To do this, of course, we wanted to work with artists who would conceive and design both the text and the drawings of the squares that our new game would have. But not just any artists, of course not. We wanted them to be artists who truly brought a vision of what diversity is. And boy, did they bring it!

The participating people are users of different centers, classrooms, and groups from Spain and Cameroon who know firsthand what it is to live diversity. They also know what it's like to suffer, sometimes and unfortunately, when another person doesn't accept or tolerate diversity. But, above all, they know that all people, without exception, are diverse. Diverse beings. And that's what makes us equal.

So smile, because you have in your hands a game with diverse characters and alternative squares, designed by and for diverse people. Like you. Like me.

With this Game of "The Goose of Diverse Beings," all we're trying to do is, on one hand, turn one of the most fun and famous games in history on its head with a different, totally creative and fun design. And, on the other hand, make visible and assert that diversity is what enriches us as human beings.

Enjoy it!

LIDEMYVA ...or The Important Difference Between Looking At and Seeing Art

Submitted by brandcode_deweloper on

LIDEMYVA …or The Important Difference Between Looking At and Seeing Art, consists of a workshop or game in which participants will play in the different rooms of the Museum. In these sessions, a different way of visiting the museum and observing the exhibited works is proposed.

The main actions that will be carried out are very simple: give titles to the exhibited works and try to relate the works with the titles of the other participants. The titles created by the players will be called "Inspirations".

Led by Jorge Luis Socorro, architect and creator of Lidemyva. The game will take place throughout the three floors of the museum's permanent exhibitions.
