II Meeting of experiences for the creation and dissemination of digital magazines in educational centers, organized by CEFIRE and the museum.

Submitted by brandcode_deweloper on

On November 12, 2015, the II Meeting of experiences for the creation and dissemination of digital magazines in educational centers took place at MACA, organized by CEFIRE and the museum. It was attended by teachers from throughout the province as well as students from different centers: from Alicante the IES Miguel Hernández, the IES Leonardo da Vinci, IES Platja Sant Joan, the IES El Pla, the IES Gran Vía and the IES 8 de marzo; from Callosa de Segura IES Santiago Grisolía, from Albatera the IES Antonio Serna Serna; from El Campello the IES Clot de l'illot; from Torrevieja the IES Las Lagunas and from Elche the IES Misteri d'Elx.

The meeting began with a presentation by the president and vice president of the Alicante Press Association, José Soto and Pedro Soriano and continued with a keynote address Digital journalism in Valencian: challenges and horizons delivered by Moisés Vizcaino, editor of the digital newspaper La Veu del País Valencià

Once the conference ended, different sessions and presentations were held in the auditorium for the teachers, while the students, who moved to the library, participated in a workshop that MACA had prepared for them, so that they could work around some works displayed in the rooms and could later present the results of this activity in the digital magazines of their schools.

Workshop 1

In search of the painting: art and word.

MACA presented a series of clues related to each of the six works and their authors selected from the different collections on display.

Six groups were formed and given the clues and information that would lead them to discover, through different devices: computers, mobile phones and tablets, the artist, the title of the work and subsequently the work itself in the rooms.

They then held a joint presentation and did work so that the team could present it to the teachers, presenting the search process, the reflections and conclusions they had reached.

Workshop 2

We create a digital project: radio and word

The Radio Milenium program (dial 107.7 FM) was broadcast from MACA itself, in which Nuria Soriano interviewed each of the participating students about the workshop and the work they were developing at MACA. The opinions were very satisfactory since it became clear that they not only enjoyed searching for the information necessary to discover the artist and work but also had learned to see works of art with fresh eyes

MACA as an Educational Resource

Submitted by brandcode_deweloper on

With this event we aim to involve teachers in the use of the contents and collections of the Museum of Contemporary Art of Alicante in an experiential way, thus renewing the didactic approach to the study of artistic and visual education.

Preliminary Considerations.

School audiences are one of the main users of museums and, therefore, the main recipients of the actions of educational departments. However, we understand that the museum space should not necessarily be an extension of the school. The museum should offer non-formal learning experiences that are integrated into the school system in a cross-cutting way, providing teachers with the necessary tools so they can take advantage of the resources offered by the museum and adapt them to their daily work in the classroom.

In this event we propose to turn the MACA into a practical workshop where we can experiment, reflect and develop innovative proposals that allow us to link our Collections with educational actions, present and future, developed in the classroom.

The event combines sessions of theoretical basis, practical workshops, visits to the Museum and debates.

MACA Parking Club, 2019

Submitted by brandcode_deweloper on

The second edition of MACA Parking Club was a step forward in consolidating the museum as a space for encounter and creation. Also selected in the CERCLES call from IVAJ and the Consorci de Museus de la Comunitat Valenciana, this edition deepened the prominence of adolescents, inviting them to inhabit the museum with freedom and to experiment with diverse languages such as graphic design, collage, photography, installation, and performance.

The images from this edition show the intensity of the process: tables full of papers, clippings, and colors; walls that transformed into collective canvases; collages that mixed irony, identity, and social critique; graphic installations that questioned memory, time, and authority; and groups of young people working together, laughing, trying, making mistakes, and creating. All of this shaped a living laboratory where the everyday became extraordinary and where each proposal revealed new ways of thinking about art and the museum.

The participants developed experimental self-portraits, reinterpreted cultural icons, played with scenic montage, and gave new meaning to the museum's spaces through collective projects. The result was not just a collection of works, but a shared process that reaffirmed the idea that MACA can be a youth cultural club, a refuge of free creativity, and a space where imagination finds legitimate channels of expression.

This second edition demonstrated that, when space and trust are given to adolescents, a transformative creative energy emerges capable of redefining the relationship between cultural institutions and new generations.

MACA Parking Club, 2018

Submitted by brandcode_deweloper on

The first edition of MACA Parking Club, selected in the CERCLES call by IVAJ and the Consortium of Museums of the Valencian Community, was a pilot project that opened the museum doors to adolescents from a fresh and disruptive perspective. Far from the conventional visit, the proposal transformed the spaces of MACA—including its parking lot—into a creative laboratory where the everyday became art and where young people could reclaim the museum as a place of their own.

The images from this edition reflect a process full of energy and freedom: graphic interventions that overflowed the paper to occupy walls and frames; collective collages and self-portraits constructed with irony and humor; installations that mixed everyday objects with cultural symbols; improvised performances in the museum halls, where participants rewrote scenes based on works by artists such as Joan Miró; and actions in public space that brought the experience outside the halls.

Parking Club established itself from its first edition as a horizontal meeting space, where each participant found an active and creative role. The methodology, based on experimentation and collaborative work, allowed adolescents to express themselves through multiple languages—from audiovisual to graphic, from installation to performance—and to explore questions of identity, memory, power and image in dialogue with contemporary art.

The result was much more than a series of artistic productions: a space of trust and belonging was generated, a cultural club in which young people could experiment, make mistakes, play and create without hierarchies, reaffirming that the museum can be a living, open place in constant transformation.

Play-Ink, 2025

Submitted by brandcode_deweloper on

The third edition of 2025, carried out in collaboration with the "la Caixa" Foundation, marked an important milestone: the participants were responsible for designing the graphic identity of the La Liada Gráfica festival, held at the Las Cigarreras Cultural Center on June 6 and 7. There, in addition to presenting their own works, they shared space with independent artists and publishers, actively integrating themselves into the city's cultural ecosystem. This leap from the workshop to the public space represented a symbolic and real recognition: their graphic voices were heard, exhibited, and valued in a professional and community framework.

Play-Ink, 2024

After the mandatory pause caused by the pandemic, the project consolidated itself in 2024 and 2025 as an ongoing process with strong territorial roots. In these editions, young people from the Gastón Castelló Community Social Center participated, coming from the neighborhoods of Virgen del Remedio and Juan XXIII, two areas marked by contexts of vulnerability, but also by intense community and cultural life.

During ten sessions, the participants went through a creative itinerary that encompassed all phases of a graphic design project: from the conceptualization of ideas to final production and public presentation. In this process they worked with diverse techniques—screen printing, illustration, collage, experimental typography—, always from a participatory and collaborative methodology that placed the voice of young people at the center.

MACA After-School

Submitted by brandcode_deweloper on

MACA proposes a series of activities designed to end the week in a creative way and explore MACA's collections. A way to discover other possible visits and take ownership of the museum space.

All activities are designed to deepen basic knowledge of contemporary art and its manifestations in a dynamic and fun way.

Based on a selection of works and artists, we aim to generate critical and creative thinking in participants, teach them to think the way artists do, and provide them with tools that allow them to express ideas and feelings through various artistic languages.

Macaextraescolar is a monthly activity that will take place on Fridays from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM. It is aimed at children between 6 and 12 years old in small groups who will attend without adult supervision.
