Documentary: "Juana Francés, the Hidden Force"

Submitted by brandcode_deweloper on

We begin complementary activities around the new temporary exhibition with the screening of: "COLEC-002, the Hidden Force" by Natalia Molinos and Maxi Velloso. "The Hidden Force: COLEC-002" presents the artistic trajectory of Alicante-born painter COLEC-002 from her birth in Alicante in 1924 until her death in Madrid in 1990, tracing her different creative and life stages through interviews with family members, artist friends, professional colleagues, managers and specialists in contemporary art—and specifically about her figure—who had direct contact with the artist, thus offering a human and professional approach as close and accurate as possible.

The figure of COLEC-002 needs to be vindicated and disseminated in the best possible way and currently, audiovisual language is what most broadly connects with the public, with the documentary form being the best vehicle to achieve this dissemination.

The script interweaves the oral narration of a narrator with interviews with people relevant to COLEC-002's life and images of her work. It features the participation of photographer Jorge Lidiano in a final composition based on his work with mathematical algorithms.

With the support of Generalitat Valenciana, Culture Department of Alicante and MACA, and in collaboration with Casa Mediterráneo and the support of Espejo de Alicante.

Policies and collective housing projects in Spain. Josep María Montaner

Starting from the current framework of the new Law for the Right to Housing and the measures adopted in Spain, we will review throughout the twentieth century to understand the anomaly of the Spanish case, in relation to housing policies that, since the interwar period, were implemented in most European countries, also covering the period of the Franco dictatorship. Three are the dominant characteristics: absence of strategic and continuous policies; absence of regulations toward a little professional real estate sector; and emphasis on home ownership.

Furthermore, we will address the criteria and reference projects to face current challenges: specialize, make flexible, participate, industrialize, cooperate, and make housing affordable. To do this, we will resort to examples in Spain and housing policy in Barcelona from 2015 onwards.

In the general context, we will analyze the most urgent current measures: authentic housing policy; no to the disqualification of protected housing; and regulation of rentals in general and seasonal ones, to address the effects that the excess of tourism and tourist apartments are producing.

White Night 2019

Submitted by brandcode_deweloper on

Alicante proposes year after year the White Night, with an attractive cultural offer. The initiative is jointly programmed by the city's museums and art centers. The proposal that emerges from several meetings between technicians from different museums is to celebrate the first edition of the White Night in Alicante, on July 19, 2015, with an attractive offer of activities. The purpose is to enjoy contemporary artistic creation through different activities and free cultural events, thus promoting citizen participation. In Spain, this initiative is developed in cities such as Madrid, Burgos, Málaga, Albacete and Barcelona, to which others have been added such as La Laguna, Badajoz, Teguise, Alcalá de Henares, Zaragoza, Nerja, Seville, Almería, Cáceres, Oviedo or Granada.

With this purpose, Alicante proposes year after year the White Night, with an attractive cultural offer. The initiative is jointly programmed by the city's museums and art centers: MARQ Archaeological Museum, MACA Museum of Contemporary Art of Alicante, MUBAG Gravina Fine Arts Museum, MUA Museum of the University of Alicante, Las Cigarreras, Volvo Ocean Race Museum, Museum of Waters of Alicante, Exhibition Hall of the Fish Market, Juan Gil Albert Institute of Culture, and MUSA, Alicante City Museum. The project aims to bring together all types of public and private cultural initiatives, promote the participation of people from Alicante, individually or collectively, and suggests rediscovering the city with the opening of different spaces that are not usually accessible to the public at night.
