Liz Deschenes' photographic work should be understood in relation to post-conceptual photography and minimalism. Her works are often halfway between photography and sculpture, and the eclectic installation in the space they occupy is a tactic of the artist to project a mixture of authoritarianism and slight appearance. Deschenes employs monochromatic planes or stylized geometric abstractions for her photographs, as we observe in her piece "Untitled" (2012), mounted on aluminum. The luminous concept is another of the artist's concerns. Her photographs raise notions of visual perception based on an aesthetic that we could define as cold, which however does not limit the beauty of her images.
