The happening of the Count of Orgaz is a silkscreen print stamped in the workshops of IberoSuiza in Valencia and published by the artists themselves in an edition of 75 copies. This copy, an artist's proof, is probably a gift to Sempere.

Related to the series The Recovery and Autopsy of a Trade, this silkscreen belongs to the first works in which Equipo Crónica recovers the iconography of Spanish painting from the Golden Age to place it in the present. Based on images by El Greco, Zurbarán, Velázquez or Goya, placed in everyday contemporary settings and using mechanisms of image confrontation with decontextualizations, anachronisms or illogical collages, the artists desacralize the mythical characters of classical painting, explore the mechanisms of power and recount aspects of contemporary history.

Using the composition of the famous work by El Greco that depicts The Burial of the Count of Orgaz at the hands of Saint Stephen and Saint Augustine and in the presence of the figures of the era who witnessed the miracle, Equipo Crónica transfers this same action to the twentieth century and summons key characters, easily recognizable signs and iconographies. Preserving the attitude of the figures, Superman, the Masked Warrior, Batman, Saint Francis, a cowboy, film noir characters, the fascism of the SS, political violence, the bourgeoisie in formal attire... all of it photographed by the cameras of the media. The speech bubbles with sounds ("click" or "glup") assimilate the scene to the treatment of comics and, ironically associating images from the mass media with the iconography of the Golden Age.

The choice of silkscreen printing responded to a deliberate logic: a procedure of multiple reproduction to question the sacralization of the unique work and to emphasize the ambiguity between painting and reproduction that runs through the entire proposal of Equipo Crónica.
