Video and photography were the two main media in Burt Barr's work. For his video works, Barr used primarily black and white, creating film pieces close to minimalism, characterized by the single shot, a 4:3 aspect ratio, and by screen fades. These are visual works of maximum formal economy, yet aesthetically stylized, that revolve around very precise concepts and ideas, while also being abstract. The video "Roz," in the collection, is an example of his personal visual language. Burt Barr also frequently used photography as an extension of his videos, and in works such as "1969 Cadillac" it is easy to appreciate the influence of the long take inherent to the film medium.
