The José Antonio Cía Library is composed of an approximate number of small catalogs, pamphlets, invitations and ephemeral material from artistic exhibitions held in Alicante from the 1950s to the 1990s. José Antonio Cía (Ceuta 1925 - Alicante 2002) was a painter and art critic at Radio Alicante, winning the Ondas award for his promotion of the art world on the local radio station. He worked as artistic director at the Caja de Ahorros Provincial de Alicante (CAPA) and in the early years of Caja Mediterráneo. He settled in Alicante and came to preside over the Ateneo Científico, Literario y Artístico de Alicante. As a result of his passion, he gathered an important collection of printed material about exhibitions by artists in Alicante, constituting an essential resource for research.
