The Valencian Community has 3 other participating centers, with only MACA in the province of Alicante.
On April 23, 47 museum libraries and art and culture centers will flood cities with books on the occasion of International Book Day.
These centers join in a bookcrossing experience in which more than 2,500 volumes related to different disciplines were released.
For the sixth consecutive year, a total of 47 museums and art centers shared on April 23, on the occasion of International Book Day, a bookcrossing experience or book release campaign, with the aim of flooding cities with volumes from the duplicate collection of their respective libraries. Participants planned to put into circulation more than 2,500 free books with the intention that those who collect them enjoy reading them and release them again at another point in the world. All released books are accredited with their respective labels, contain the necessary instructions to facilitate the reader's participation in the campaign and will be registered on the website www.bookcrossing-spain.com, where readers can indicate the place where they will release each copy. The objective of this initiative is to add museum libraries to the effort to promote reading, and more specifically, to disseminate knowledge of the different cultural disciplines.
Since its international appearance in 2001, bookcrossing has only multiplied the number of participants in this type of initiative. Parallel to bookcrossing and as happened last year, MACA will set up a free book delivery point for all visitors who wish to do so.
From Tuesday afternoon the 22nd and until supplies run out, each visitor will be able to take a maximum of two books per person free of charge.
The books that will be given away are part of the museum's bibliographic collections and are mainly made up of catalogs from past exhibitions.
